"abstract": "An emergency general surgery surgeon, or EGS surgeon, is a doctor who helps people with sudden, serious health problems that might need surgery right away. They help patients who come to the hospital with things like severe belly pain, a bad infection that needs surgery, or other problems requiring surgery that may happen while someone is already in the hospital. EGS surgeons are trained to act fast and are very skilled at deciding if surgery is needed and what type of surgery to do. They treat a wide variety of problems throughout the body. Even if surgery is not needed, their decisions help guide the care patients receive while they are in the hospital.",
