  "abstract": "Introduction Malnutrition in ILD is associated with reduced survival. In a pilot feasibility trial ( NCT06016959), malnourished patients (n = 40) were randomised to a 12-week individualised dietetic intervention or receiving a dietary leaflet (control). Dietetic interventions but not control reversed ongoing weight loss.Aim To explore the impact of a dietetic intervention trial in malnourished ILD patients.Methods Semi-structured research interviews were conducted with participants at trial end, 13 in the dietetic and four in the control arm. Participants discussed their experience of dietetic care, research participation, and recommended changes to study design. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim and coded thematically (Braun & Clarke, 2006).Results Analysis revealed three key themes: 1) dietary habits were improved to increase weight; 2) a positive approach to treatment was fostered; 3) the dietitian-patient relationship was viewed as supportive, and strengthened the link between ILD and diet. However, some patients reported a feeling of forcing themselves to eat.Participants randomized to control would have preferred earlier dietetic intervention. However, they did report closer monitoring of their nutritional status. For future research, there was a preference towards digital questionnaires and food diaries.Abstract P20 Figure 1Conclusion Participants viewed dietetic care as highly supportive and valued this to facilitate changing their dietary habits. Although sample size was small, analysis suggests that increased self-monitoring of nutritional status without support does not correlate with positive outcomes.",
