  "abstract": "Background Despite the known benefits of Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR), a significant proportion of those that attend an assessment do not enrol in a programme. The characteristics of those declining a programme remain unexplored.Aim To compare the characteristics of those enrolling into a PR programme using the UK National Respiratory Audit Programme dataset for England and Wales.Methods 88,446 individuals with COPD attended a PR assessment between March 2019 and September 2023. A generalised linear mixed model with a logit link function was used to explore the characteristics associated with PR enrolment. Factors included age, gender, ethnicity, Medical Research Council (MRC) dyspnoea grade and index of multiple deprivation (IMD) quintile. Enrolment was defined as attending at least one PR session in any mode of delivery.Results 72,085 (82%) individuals that attended a PR assessment enrolled into a PR programme. Individuals that identified as having a Black ethnicity had significantly greater odds of enrolling in a PR programme. Age<65 years, female gender, MRC grade 4/5 or IMD1–3 quintile groups had significantly lower odds of enrolment ( figure 1).
