  "abstract": "Introduction Goals for asthma treatment with biologics have progressed to clinical remission. General consensus 1 among experts is that remission should encompass absence of oral corticosteroids [OCS], well controlled symptoms and stable FEV1. A working group from the American Thoracic Society and College and Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology has proposed a more stringent definition for remission on treatment.2 Aim To analyse ability of real-world asthma patients on benralizumab to achieve the stringent American remission criteria.Methods BenRex is an open label, multicentre study of exacerbations while on benralizumab for severe eosinophilic asthma. Data from study visits were used to explore remission definitions.Results At 1 year follow up, 0 of 136 subjects met the American remission criteria. Clinical response (50% reduction in OCS) was seen in 86%. If remission criteria were reduced to the 3 pertaining to OCS use, symptoms and FEV1, 16 (11.8%) would achieve remission.
