  "abstract": "Introduction and Objectives Daily fluctuations in weather parameters have been suggested as possible triggers for spontaneous pneumothorax (SP). 1 2 However, there is no strong evidence to confirm this hypothesis. This study was designed to assess the correlation between daily local weather parameters and occurrence of SP.Methods Retrospective observational study of 119 (Males=88, Females=31, mean age= 51.2 years) cases of primary and secondary spontaneous pneumothorax from 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2024, was conducted covering a specific geographical area. Weather data including daily values for mean, maximum, and minimum temperature, rainfall, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure, were obtained from open-meteo API, open access platform which provides historical information regarding local climate changes. Weather parameters on the days when SP were presented were compared with no SP presented, using independent sample t-tests. Seasonal variation was assessed using chi-square analysis. Logistic regression analysis performed to assess correlation between different weather parameters on a day (D-1) prior to the date of presentation and two days prior (D-2) to the date of presentation.Results There were no statistically significant differences were found between SP and non-SP days for any of the weather parameters, including mean temperature (p=0.06), maximum temperature (p=0.13), minimum temperature (p=0.10), rainfall (p=0.89), wind speed (p=0.33), atmospheric pressure (p=0.47) or pressure range (p=0.64). Seasonal distribution of SP also showed no significant variation (χ 2 p=0.85). Limitations include the single-centre design and limited number of subjects.
