"abstract": "Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) continues to pose a complex challenge for clinicians, microbiologists and public health practitioners amid a global resurgence, rising antimicrobial resistance (AMR), evolving prevention strategies and uncertainty about the population-level benefits and potential harms of screening. These issues framed the workshop “Revisiting gonorrhoea prevention in the era of resistance and biomedical interventions”, held during the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) Conference in Paris in October 2025 and co-hosted by this journal. The meeting also marked the launch of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Sexually Transmitted Infections Study Group, established to strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration, harmonise research and support coordinated control strategies.",
