"abstract": "Rising rates of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and advocacy from communities most affected by STIs motivated the Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (SIMIT) to develop this consensus statement on asymptomatic screening for STIs, services for partners of people diagnosed with an STI and doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis (doxyPEP), pending adoption of upcoming national HIV and STIs guidelines. SIMIT is Italy’s national professional society for clinicians and researchers specialising in infectious and tropical diseases. This consensus aims at providing guidance to clinicians, community health workers and policymakers in Italy and similar settings lacking national guidelines. Recommendations are based on graded guidelines by WHO or international clinical societies, the latest available evidence and expert opinion.",
