  "abstract": "As regional anesthesiologists and pain management clinicians, we routinely face demands that can challenge our well-being.1 2 Indeed, multiple datasets suggest that physicians specializing in Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine (RAPM) are at elevated risk for burnout within anesthesiology—a specialty already marked by high overall burnout rates.3 Earlier findings identified pain medicine physicians as having the highest burnout rates among subspecialists,1 while more recent data indicate that regional anesthesiologists are second only to critical care physicians in burnout risk.2 Whether it is in the perioperative environment or the clinic: RAPM clinicians face numerous pressures, including complex patient populations, opioid management, concerns about workplace violence and safety, procedures with known risks, medical liability, and the challenge of performing technically demanding procedures under tight operating room or clinic schedules and intense production pressures.1 2 4–7 To be sure: practitioners can derive significant meaning and purpose from a career in RAPM, but the perioperative and pain clinic work environments contain forces that threaten RAPM clinician well-being.1",
