  "abstract": "The Letter by Rousseleau et al1 raises the appropriate next question: when does bupivacaine detected beyond a fascial plane become pharmacodynamically relevant? Our experiments were not designed to answer that clinical question directly. They addressed a preceding problem in anatomical spread studies: whether methylene blue or iodinated contrast can be used as reliable substitutes for the tissue distribution of bupivacaine. Our data indicate that they cannot.",
