"abstract": "The Pareto Principle, also called the 80/20 rule, applies to many aspects of life. There are examples in business where 80% of sales come from 20% of customers, in charity fundraising where 80% of donations are from 20% of donors, and even in student revision plans where 80% of marks come from 20% of their efforts. While these are impressionistic figures, the idea underlying the principle is sound and reflects the underlying uneven distribution across each of these fields. It also applies to the neurology clinic. Most patients (~80%) are straightforward for a trained neurologist, with a ready diagnosis and a straightforward plan for investigation and treatment. However, the minority (the 20% or whatever the actual percentage is) present a greater challenge.",
