  "abstract": "It is an honour to have been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Military Health, and I must begin by thanking my predecessor, Lt Col Johno Breeze, who many of you will know has been at the helm for almost a decade. He has steered the journal through some turbulent times, including the creation of a truly Joint military medical journal under the management of BMJ Group. I am glad to say that thanks to Johno’s sterling efforts, the journal is now on a much more assured footing, and I look forward to growing the journal’s impact and reach over the coming years.",
