"abstract": "Introduction Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits familial clustering, with increased susceptibility among first-degree relatives. Recent advancements in diagnostic criteria and the availability of disease-modifying therapies have opened avenues for potential screening programs. However, understanding the perspectives of people with MS (pwMS) on screening their relatives is crucial for determining the feasibility and acceptability of such initiatives.Aims To explore attitudes of pwMS towards screening of their first-degree biological relatives. Methods Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 31 pwMS conveniently sampled when attending clinic. Field notes were taken throughout the interviews and data was analysed using framework analysis. Results 77.4% of participants were positive about screening. Key themes within positive responders included reduced uncertainty and options for earlier treatment. Themes from PwMS with negative attitudes highlighted a lack of genetic risks awareness and concerns about increased mental health burden. Participants were more positive when acknowledging their treatment efficacy. Conclusion This study overall provides evidence supporting screening for MS. However, concerns about the potential negative psychological impact of screening require further investigation. Future research should focus on eliciting the perspectives of first-degree relatives regarding potential screening programs.ishodge03@gmail.com",
