  "abstract": "Introduction Most neurological outpatient care (NOPC) in the UK is delivered without mandated clinical coding, with fewer than 20% of clinicians participating. As a result, data on NOPC in the UK is limited. Data on NOPC diagnostic categories has been published for the point of referral, 1 2 but not at the point of clinic appointments and outcomes.To address this, we analysed NPOC at a tertiary centre managing 18,000 outpatients annually. Our audit examined diagnosis distribution using a combination of automated and manual coding and analysed outcomes by diagnostic category.Methods We conducted a 12-month retrospective review of neurologist-led-outpatient activity using electronic patient records and patient management systems. Patients were classified into one of 29 diagnostic categories using a machine learning model combined with manual coding previously used and presented. 3 Data was further stratified by clinic type,setup (face-to-face or telephone), and outcomes.Results Between 15/11/2021-14/11/2022, we analysed 10,656 encounters. Nine diagnostic categories accounted for 75% of cases across all clinics. The missed attendance rate was 4%. We also examined diagnostic volumes, follow-ups, and outcomes for general neurology clinics.Conclusion This audit provides the first UK-based analysis of neurology outpatient volumes and outcomes stratified by diagnostic category, offering valuable insights for service planning.References Biggin F, et al.
