  "abstract": "This study aimed to explore the attitudes and experiences of men participating in the J-BRCA Programme. Men were studied separately from women, given differences in BRCA-related cancer risk, testing attitudes, and health-seeking behaviours.Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted via video or telephone with men who had participated in the J-BRCA Programme. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed using thematic analysis in NVivo.Seven interviews were conducted with men aged 59-79. Four had no PV, two had a BRCA1 PV, and one had a BRCA2 PV. Five themes were developed: awareness and prior knowledge; motivation for testing; emotional response and preparedness; family dynamics and cultural context; and experience of the testing process. Participants described a positive experience of the J-BRCA Programme, with high satisfaction and no post-decision regret. Most participants’ main motivation was to protect female family members. Participants described low anxiety levels throughout the testing process; many felt this was linked to their perception of low risk, particularly compared to female counterparts. All participants suggested quicker results as an improvement.Male participants found the J-BRCA Programme highly satisfactory, regardless of their genetic test result. Most supported others participating in the J-BRCA Programme, so BRCA PV carriers can access preventative healthcare.",
