  "abstract": "Background The field of cancer immunotherapy is evolving at an unprecedented pace, creating an urgent need to train the next generation of scientists and clinicians in the principles of tumor immunology and immunotherapy. To meet this need, the International Immunotherapy School (ImmunoSchool) was launched in 2015 as a collaborative initiative involving academic and clinical researchers from multiple institutions worldwide. Over the past decade, ImmunoSchool has grown into a unique, online, and tuition-free training program that brings together early-career scientists and physicians for intensive education in immunology, with a focus on its application to cancer.Methods ImmunoSchool (immunoschool.org) 1 is structured as a three-day annual course comprising lectures, virtual poster sessions, and small group discussions. The curriculum integrates foundational and cutting-edge topics in immunotherapy, including checkpoint blockade, cell therapy, innate immune sensing, immune-related adverse events, and clinical trial design. Speakers are selected from leading institutions across the World, with a strong emphasis on international and interdisciplinary representation. Each year, our curriculum revolves around a different central theme, with past topics including ‘Myeloid-targeted therapies’, ‘Immunological paradigms across diseases’ and, most recently, ‘Challenges and opportunities in cancer immunotherapy’.Results Since its inception, ImmunoSchool has trained over 7,000 participants from more than 80 countries ( figure 1). Its virtual and cost-free format has removed access barriers and enabled truly global participation. In 2024, Nature Reviews Immunology2 recognized ImmunoSchool as a model for international collaboration in scientific education, particularly for fostering early-career engagement in immunotherapy. Alumni have advanced into academic, clinical, and industry careers in immunology and oncology. In 2024, the program celebrated its 10th edition with the theme ‘10 years of discovery in immunotherapy’, featuring global experts who reflected on major advancements over the past decade. Additionally, the launch of a YouTube channel with on-demand access to past presentations has expanded the program’s reach, with an estimated 1,000 more viewers benefiting from its educational content (figure 2).Conclusions ImmunoSchool exemplifies how international, collaborative, and online education can significantly impact workforce development in cancer immunotherapy. As the field evolves, scalable and accessible models like ImmunoSchool are vital to equip the next generation of clinicians and scientists. Its first decade highlights the transformative potential of open-access education. By leveraging video conferencing and digital platforms, ImmunoSchool connects students, researchers, and clinicians in training with leading experts around the world—breaking down geographic and economic barriers, fostering global exchange, and inspiring future leaders in immuno-oncology.References immunoschool - YouTube [Internet].
