"abstract": "Welcome to this month’s issue of the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health (JECH). Since starting as joint Editors-in-Chief of JECH, we have been delighted to see the breadth of papers being submitted which have advanced our understanding of the pathways through which the social determinants translate into health and health equity impacts. This month’s issue illustrates that breadth as well as the importance of considering the multilevel nature of determinants. We are also keen to see JECH remain at the forefront of debates about the evolving nature of societies and trying to translate knowledge into healthy public policy.",
