  "abstract": "We report a hitherto undescribed, peculiar form of metaplasia in Crohn’s disease. A young adult man presented with abdominal pain. He had had similar symptoms 2 years earlier; colonoscopy had then shown ulcerative lesions in the terminal ileum, ascending colon and caecum. A limited right hemicolectomy had then been performed, and the excision specimen had been reported elsewhere as being suggestive of a chronic inflammatory lesion. Faecal calprotectin was raised (3635 mg/kg; reference: ≤50 mg/kg), and the patient was put on a course of mesalamine, for a clinical diagnosis of Crohn’s disease.",
