"abstract": "The success of the Emergency Department opt-out Blood Borne Virus testing programme in England has led to >4800 people being newly diagnosed with HBV, and >1100 identified as not in care. Currently viral hepatitis services in are managing a rapidly increasing number of new and re-engaging patients. There is an urgent need to develop a service specification for specialised adult outpatient Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Services which provide assessment and ongoing management of HBV (+/-) HDV and associated complications to support individuals to stay well, remain engaged in care and have equitable access to therapy if indicated. In 2024, NHS London established the Hepatitis B Pathway Development Task & Finish Group to develop holistic pathways and services for people living with Hepatitis B. More than 50 stakeholders were consulted, including people with lived experience, British Liver Trust, World Hepatitis Alliance, clinicians, allied healthcare professionals, General Practitioners, UKHSA and Integrated Care Board members. Representatives from each stakeholder group contributed to the Task & Finish outputs. Six areas were identified as being under resourced:Presence of the patient voice in decision makingPlacement of specialised HBV care within Integrated Care SystemsAgreed Standards of Equitable CareData Management & Cohort Management ToolsEngagement SupportRole of Primary care and community-based careThe Task & Finish Group developed:A co-designed hepatitis B service model to provide care for patients needing diagnosis, assessment, treatment, monitoring, community based integrated care and the vaccination of contacts.A digital solution for a patient cohort management tool and patient registry to provide oversight of everyone identified as hepatitis B surface antigen positive within the ICS, to ensure engagement can be supported and case cascade outcomes collated from a plurality of providers.A workforce solution to include specialist expertise, people with lived experience, and administrative support.Abstract P167 Figure 1The NHS London Pathways group co-designed a care model (figure 1) to ensure quality of life and wellbeing outcomes for people living with HBV are maximised, that negative outcomes (cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, transplantation, death) are minimised, that information is culturally and language competent (in recognition of the disproportionate number of people from diverse backgrounds living with HBV) and that people with Hepatitis B are central to decisions about their health and social care. In order to achieve Hepatitis B elimination targets, co-designed models of Hepatitis B care must be priority for Integrated Care Systems.",
