  "abstract": "Welcome to the March 2026 issue of Frontline Gastroenterology (FG). It has been an exciting and interesting start to 2026 for the ‘Gut portfolio’ of journals that are published by the BMJ Group in the sphere of gastrointestinal (GI) disease alongside FG. In addition to FG (fg.bmj.com), Gut (gut.bmj.com) and BMJ Open Gastroenterology (bmjopengastro.bmj.com), GUT Science (gutscience.bmj.com) has now been added to the portfolio. Gut Science is an international, open-access journal dedicated to the fundamental basic science of gastroenterology and hepatology, and its new Editor in Chief is Dr Upkar Gill. With its focus on basic science, it is obviously very different from FG, but as part of the wider portfolio, it complements our three other sister journals and is a great addition to what the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and BMJ Group jointly own and offer in terms of published literature. I wish Dr Gill and his team all the best in launching this new journal. Alongside this new development, it has been great to see three superb individuals replace Professor El-Omar (who announced his retirement in 2025 as discussed in Upfront in the September 2025 issue: https://fg.bmj.com/content/16/5/349) as the new Editors in chief of Gut. I warmly welcome Professor Matias A Avila, Professor William Grady and Professor Thomas Rösch to their new position, and I am sure Gut will continue to go from strength to strength under their leadership and team (figure 1).",
