"abstract": "Neonatal meconium passage is an important indicator of gastrointestinal function; delayed or absent meconium passage may indicate pathology. 1 A 1955 study of 500 term infants found that almost 95% of babies pass meconium by 24 hours, over 99% by 48 hours.2 Obstetric and postnatal practices have evolved significantly in the decades since.3 More recent data have been generated across diverse healthcare systems, primarily using retrospective methods with heterogeneous populations. This study aimed to develop an updated reference range for time to first passage of meconium among healthy, term neonates, delivered in a modern, highly resourced healthcare system.",
