  "abstract": "Introduction Emergency Medicine provides an ideal setting for medical students to develop essential skills in managing undifferentiated patients. However, there is no clear consensus on the specific competencies they should achieve by graduation. In 2024, Lopes et al. conducted a systematic review to identify emergency medicine-related Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) within undergraduate curricula. While some integration was observed internationally, the review revealed no definitive EPA set, and a notable gap remains in defining such competencies within the Irish context. This study explores the perspectives of emergency medicine consultants, trainees, and educators to develop a context-specific set of EM-related EPAs suitable for Irish medical students. The nine EPA domains identified by Lopes et al. were adapted to form an a priori framework guiding the interviews. The central research question was: What EM-specific EPAs should Irish medical students be expected to acquire by the time of graduation?Methods A qualitative research approach was employed, involving 26 semi-structured interviews with EM physicians and educators. Data were analysed using deductive descriptive content analysis, guided by the adapted EPA framework.Results Participants regarded the Lopes framework as a useful foundation but recommended merging, rewording, and expanding several EPAs to better reflect Irish emergency care. Five major themes emerged: (1) Clinical skills and knowledge; (2) Human factors and communication; (3) Professional identity and decision-making; (4) Educational and structural factors; and (5) Systemic and cultural barriers. Based on these findings, a refined list of core EM-specific EPAs was proposed, along with a set of non-essential EPAs considered relevant within the Irish context.Abstract #20 Table 1Refined list of entrustable professional activitiesConclusion This study highlights gaps in undergraduate EM preparedness.
