  "abstract": "We read with interest the article ‘Retrospective study of patient characteristics and treatment for mucormycosis in post-COVID-19 population in a tertiary care hospital’ by Lakshmi et al.1 The purpose of their study was to investigate patient cases of mucormycosis that followed COVID-19 infection. In total they identified 33 cases, the majority being men with an average age of 55 years. According to their study, people who received the COVID-19 vaccine had a decreased risk of contracting mucormycosis in comparison to people who did not receive the vaccination. Furthermore, it was shown that those who used steroids had a noticeably higher risk of infection.",
