  "abstract": "Syria’s protracted conflict (2011–2024) has caused widespread destruction to the health system with both direct and indirect impacts on healthcare. It has also reshaped both the population’s needs and its healthcare workforce with increased demands. The latter has been decimated, with thousands forced to leave due to the conflict, many directly targeted and criminalised for providing humanitarian care. 1 More than 900 healthcare workers have been killed and many more imprisoned.2 For the remainder, their education and training has been negatively impacted and their livelihoods decimated given the fractures within the health system. Most explorations of the healthcare workforce have focused on physicians; we emphasise that this wider workforce, including pharmacists, has untapped potential during Syria’s health system’s recovery.",
