  "abstract": "Background Access to Bereavement Services within Compton Care is for relatives of people who have died under the care of the clinical nursing services. This creates an obvious gap to support bereaved people in the local community who don’t have a direct link to the hospice. The Information Points are just the first step in aiding Compton Care to reach out to those in the community without a direct link to the hospice by offering information and a signposting service to aid their bereavement.Aim To provide Level 1 support (Irish Hospice Foundation. Adult Bereavement care pyramid: a national framework. 2020 [internet]) to bereaved members of the local community who aren’t eligible for care within Compton Care.Method Information Points were piloted in local libraries which worked very well. We secured two libraries for a monthly two-hour drop-in for the local community to come and speak with the Bereavement and Family Care team as they need. During the Information Point sessions resource lists are given out, each sub-categorised to the needs of the individual. The Bereavement Information Points are led by Bereavement Coordinators with social prescribing training and volunteers; this means that if someone approaches where the resource list doesn’t cover their needs a follow-up call can be arranged for bespoke signposting.Results Following the commencement of the Information Points feedback has been received which has been positive and constructive. This has naturally boosted morale within the team and denotes the importance of ensuring the gap in service provision to reach the wider community is being addressed and filled.Conclusion Since the start of the Information Points in late 2024 regularity and growth has continued. The future for the Bereavement Information Points is bright with further collaboration with other organisations, such as the local university.",
