  "abstract": "Background Recruiting a clinical workforce is an ongoing challenge for hospices. As part of our Lancashire South Cumbria Hospices Together collaborative, we appointed a Strategic Education and Research Lead to review our education and training pathway across all clinical roles: from Healthcare Assistant through to Hospice Physician. Collaborating with a local sixth form college, we devised a Palliative T-Level pathway.Aims The aim of the project is to create a palliative pathway for Level 3 students attending the local sixth form college with placements in all clinical departments at Pendleside Hospice.Method The curriculum of the T-level course was reviewed which identified placement opportunities and hospice staff delivering sessions as part of the course. The college had an extremely low number of students registering for the T-Level course so we adapted the project to engage the Level 3 Health and Social Care students. The Clinical Services Manager presented an overview of the hospice to the students and explained how the project would work. Nineteen students expressed an interest in the palliative care pathway and the college shortlisted the applications. Hospice clinicians held interviews but only two out of the five students attended. Both students were offered hospice placements which they both accepted.Results Two Level 3 Health and Social Care students began their placements in Hospice at Home and Day Services in March 2025. The hours they are required to do each year is less than the T-Level students. Both students have been fully engaged during their placements.Conclusions Although early in the project, both students have enjoyed their hospice placements. A learning point is to ensure that there are clear lines of communication with the college to ensure that the needs of the students are met and placements dates are shared to enable planning.",
