"abstract": "Background Wellbeing events are especially valuable for individuals and their carers living with life-limiting illnesses, as they provide holistic support that complements their clinical care. Rather than centering on illness (Daly, Drain. Nurs Times. 2024; 120; 12 [internet]), these events offer a vital opportunity for people to focus on joy, connection, and self-expression. The Hub creates a safe and welcoming space for people to reconnect with themselves and others, helping to foster hope, resilience, and a sense of purpose.Aim The aim of The Hub is to empower individuals to maintain their independence, form meaningful social connections, and participate in activities tailored to their interests and abilities. Methods Operating Monday to Friday and free to all, The Hub adopts a person-centered approach (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. Older people: independence and mental wellbeing. [NG32] 2015), shaped by regular verbal and written feedback from attendees. This ongoing dialogue allows for responsive planning and a programme that evolves with the needs of those who use it. For example, after attendees expressed a desire for more creative outlets, a weekly drop-in arts and crafts session was introduced and has become very popular. Current activities include: hypnotherapy workshops; live music performances; sound baths; Highland Hustle (gentle movement to music); and a crochet group. Results Since redesigning The Hub’s programme to focus on wellbeing, attendance has significantly increased. In April 2024, 101 individuals accessed the service; by March 2025, this had grown to 176.Feedback consistently highlights the value attendees place on The Hub, often describing it as a ‘lifeline’.‘Thanks again to the staff for keeping up diverse interests for attendees’ and ‘The Hub is a crucial part of living for us both.’Conclusion The success of The Hub lies in its ability to grow with its community. It has become a vibrant, uplifting space filled with laughter, creativity, and compassionate support for all who walk through the door.",
