"abstract": "Background Improving and maintaining staff wellbeing of a clinical team in a children’s hospice is essential to the delivery of compassionate, high-quality care. Hospice work can be emotionally and physically demanding. Supporting staff wellbeing helps to prevent burnout, reduce stress, sickness and improve job satisfaction.Aims The introduction of a QR code poster where staff can scan and generate an email to send their appreciation to colleagues when they observe great practice or just want to give feedback. Methods A QR code poster was developed with instructions on how to use it and the benefits of sending appreciation to colleagues. The QR code generates an email and that is then sent anonymously to the staff member and their line manager making them aware of the feedback they have received. Results Since the beginning of the QR code initiative 35 staff have received a message. A SurveyMonkey form was sent to all staff to feedback on the use of the app:16 responses in five days.67% have received a message, 25% have not and a small portion cannot remember. All staff who received the message appreciated receiving it.25% respondents had sent a message to someone. Those that had not sent a message reported mostly that they ‘kept forgetting’.All those who received a message agreed either completely or somewhat that it made them feel valued.75% of respondents felt it was a worthwhile initiative for wellbeing, 25% felt it did this somewhat. Conclusions Early feedback from the staff survey on the use of the app has been positive. The majority of staff who reported receiving a message felt it contributed to feeling valued. All respondents agreed the initiative supported wellbeing. This will now be rolled out across the organisation. Information gathered by managers can be used for evidence of professional development and registration.",
