"abstract": "Background All staff are responsible for making changes to improve patient outcomes and system performance (General Medical Council. Quality Improvement Project (QIP): Practical guidance for trainees. 2016 Apr 25). Historically, Community Hospice quality improvement has been led by the senior team and projects largely undertaken by medical residents, with limited opportunity to present findings. Valuable innovations by nurses, fundraisers, retail staff and other teams were not presented consistently and learning was rarely shared across teams.Aim To create an inclusive, time-efficient quality improvement framework that encourages every individual to collaborate with colleagues across teams, to share ideas and learning, and to celebrate successes across the organisation, in order to improve patient outcomes and organisational processes. Methods Co-design: Department leads discussed and agreed objectives.Format: Quarterly 90-minute quality improvement presentations, with speakers limited to 10 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.Individual investment: All staff encouraged to contribute.Mentorship: Available for those new to quality improvement activities or public speaking.Content widening: Calls for contributions circulated hospice-wide. Topics range from evaluation of inpatient triage tools, to novel fundraising approaches, and retail staff training on self-defence.Future plans: Further increase in cross-team collaboration, and create recordings for asynchronous viewing to promote accessibility.Evaluation: Measures included attendance, cross-departmental collaboration, and audit of changes made as outcomes of previous projects. Results First 12 months:Over 60 staff members have attended quality improvement presentations.Increased role diversity in attendees, including trustees, fundraisers, and home carers.19 projects presented, with the next two sessions already fully booked. Conclusion Our quality improvement presentations have fostered a strong sense of ownership and initiative across the hospice. By harnessing staff passion and creativity, we’ve built a culture of enthusiastic learning and achieved meaningful improvements in the service we offer.",
