  "abstract": "Background Post COVID it was noted that a flexible needs-led service, promoting independence and living well was needed to support the palliative care community. Sustainable and collaborative support are key to empowerment and increasing awareness of hospice care, whether it be in the building or external.Aim Our aim was to review, develop and expand services within the building as well as in the community. The power of peer support is to undercut isolation and promote healing and this is our ethos for outreach and living well (Hart. Older people in rural areas: vulnerability due to loneliness and isolation. Rural England; 2016; Watts, Higgins. Narratives of recovery from mental illness: the role of peer support. Routledge; 2017).Method Employed an Engagement and Information Officer and created a multi-disciplinary Living Well and Outreach Team with extra hours allocated. Surveyed clients currently attending bereavement groups about success and new venues. Mapped where there was a ‘gap’ in services geographically. Visited/contacted several carers groups and surveyed needs in relation to hospice care. Met with the complex care children’s nurses and assessed need for support at Baby Group.Discussions with other professionals highlighted a need for information and support for people with a neurological condition. Discussions with groups and corporate companies showed a lack of understanding of a hospice. Introducing a ‘myth busting’ talk and quiz to offer to groups.Results Developing existing community bereavement services in the light of positive reviews from clients. New Walk and Talk group and Comfort Café launched. Both drop-in, no referral needed. Social Work and Family Support services offered for carers of children attending the Children’s Hospice/Saturday Club. New six session programme for people with neurological conditions and their carers offers peer support and promotes independence. Additional opportunity for complementary therapies. Myth busting talks are being introduced to corporate companies and carers groups around the county.Conclusion The Living Well and Outreach Service has developed and supports a wider community who now have a better understanding of the hospice.",
