"abstract": "Background Collaborating and sharing good practice to use data to influence commissioners. We wanted to show the collective impact of our hospice collaborative on reducing pressure on the NHS to move perceptions and understanding of our services. We used aggregated data to target commissioners with our impact to prompt behaviour change.Aims To develop a collective story about the impact of our 12 independent hospice collaborative. To target commissioners – directly in presentations, using information when responding to their enquiries/requests for information and to raise visibility on LinkedIn. To share with our supporters on social media and in newsletters. Methods We identified a number of areas to share full year data, we then spent time doing check and challenge and once confident, presented it with impact for area. Results Aggregating up made the numbers chunky enough to attract attention. It moved conversations from individual experience to system impact. We were able to describe the impact on the acute sector if we weren’t here – especially ‘we provide more than 20,000 nights of care every year that would otherwise be in an acute setting’ and ‘every day we care for 100 people who would otherwise need acute care’. We also highlighted impact as an employer and a trainer. We changed perceptions and behaviours from commissioners who viewed us more credibly. Conclusions It changed the conversation from being ‘nice’ to being ’vital’ and secured us a seat on the Integrated Care Partnership. We shared the approach with other areas (two Collaboratives) who adopted it and had a similar impact.",
