  "abstract": "Background The aim is to provide knowledge about the different types and significance of life-sustaining measures, so individuals can receive informed advice regarding treatments in cases of serious illness, accidents, or at the end of life.Objective/Purpose of the Workshop Participants will:Understand the difference between resuscitation and intensive care or medical life-sustaining measures.Learn about various life-sustaining options, including their effects and side effects.Target Audience:ACP counselors, individuals interested in life-sustaining options.Number of Participants:Minimum: 15; Maximum: 25Workshop Structure:Experience Exchange: Sharing knowledge and perceptions about life-sustaining measures.Presentation: Overview of life-sustaining options, with advantages and disadvantages and hands-on experiences (ECG/monitoring, ventilator masks, intubation, etc.)Q&A SessionExperience Exchange: Reflecting on new knowledge gained.Reflection: Discussing the impact of this knowledge on future counseling sessions.Format and Duration: (90-minutes)In this workshop, participants will explore their personal perceptions of life-sustaining measures. First-hand insights from an experienced emergency physician and intensive care specialist will cover both invasive and non-invasive life-sustaining options. The differences between resuscitation and life-sustaining measures will be clarified. The focus will be on the positive and negative impacts of medical interventions and technologies on the human body. Various medical devices will be demonstrated, and participants will have the opportunity to exchange views and ask questions.Uniqueness In this workshop, participants will receive essential information from a qualified intensive care physician and emergency doctor who practices ACP, enabling them to better understand and contextualize life-sustaining medical measures. ACP counseling sessions can be conducted with greater competence, and any questions regarding life-sustaining measures will be addressed.Implications This workshop provides knowledge from a specialist who deals daily with critically ill patients, their families, and interdisciplinary teams in intensive care units and emergency settings. There is a need for better information about the possibilities and indications of life-sustaining measures in order to make patients more decision-capable and Advance Care Planners more competent in counseling.ACP counselors need to understand which medical options are available and what they entail to explain them effectively to patients.Participants who have had no prior exposure to intensive or emergency medicine will gain firsthand experience and understanding of what life-sustaining measures mean and how they differ from resuscitation efforts. Knowledge gaps can be addressed, providing the foundation for more comprehensive counseling in advance care planning.",
