  "abstract": "Background Involving and engaging children, young people, parents and carers is central to the NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF). Relocating to the new ‘Discovery Unit’ in 2024 provided us with an ideal opportunity to further develop our engagement with families and improve support beyond the bedside. This project aligns with the Care beyond walls theme.Methods Directly after the move, we introduced regular coffee mornings in the new Parents Lounge, which was co-designed by families as a relaxed, comfortable area available only to adults. The coffee mornings are an opportunity for parents to share their experiences of the CRF and research in a safe, supportive, environment. This also enables us to have a much more in-depth conversation than we’d be able to have at the bedside and to dig deeper into any feedback, generating richer insights than we get from traditional surveys. Building on this, we established a Parent and Carer Advisory Group of nine core members (as of September 2025), which meets online to advise on CRF projects and contributes to governance, including the CRF Board.Results We have gathered a huge amount of rich and constructive feedback by working with families which have allowed us to make changes and improvements to our service. For example, co-producing the Welcome Pack which is given to all CRF families and contains an overview of the facility including maps, photographs and contact information. Seven parents also contributed to a film shown to a national audience at the UKCRF Network Conference.Conclusion Partnering with parents and carers has enhanced our service, strengthened family trust, and ensured research delivery is more inclusive and responsive. We will also extend the work we do with children and young people to ensure that we involving as many members of our CRF families as possible.Acknowledgements for Funding or Support This work is supported by the NIHR GOSH CRF.
