"abstract": "Preceptorship is a structured period of support and development which should be offered across key career transitions (NHSE 2024 and HCPC 2023). In 2022 we launched an Allied Health band 6 development programme to support the transition of band 6s who were new to role, developing as a band 6, or working towards band 7. Measuring the impact of the programme using qualitative analysis as well as quantitative analysis helps achieve a deeper understanding.Quantitative analysis of the first 4 cohorts (n=35) showed statistically significant increases in confidence in 80% and competence in 64% in the topics taught (p=<0.05). Adding qualitative data to the Kirkpatrick evaluation model increases insights and demonstrates wider impact of the course.A post course evaluation questionnaire was sent out to all attendees to ask if they thought the course had impacted on or changed their practice in different areas. Questionnaires were completed by 20 attendees. Results were coded using frequency mapping and a thematic analysis was completed.Four key themes were identified, the most frequent was a self-reported increase in confidence and ability to push themselves to develop further. They reported their competence and skills improved in topics across the course, such as emotional intelligence and team working. Attendees were particularly more confident with research skills, with some participants getting abstracts accepted at conferences. They reported knowing more about the career options, and that this course helped prepare them for band 7 interviews. This data further reinforces the quantitative benefits identified in the development programme evaluation. The results support Kirkpatrick evaluation at the learning level with some implications for behavioural change. Further qualitative information from managers will enable identification at the results level that leads to organisational implementation.",
