  "abstract": "Introduction The protective effect of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication on thromboembolic disease has attracted the interest. This nationwide population-based cohort study aimed to investigate the factors affecting the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) after H. pylori eradication.Methods Regular check-up data of 856 028 individuals who underwent H. pylori eradication were compared before and after H. pylori eradication. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the adjusted HR (aHR) for posteradication CVD risk.Results After H. pylori eradication, significant differences were observed in lifestyle factors and lipid levels according to CVD incidence during the follow-up period (p<0.001). An unhealthy lifestyle (ULS) after H. pylori eradication increases the risk of CVD, while correcting these factors attenuates the risk of increase. Furthermore, ULS change after eradication showed a gradual association with CVD risk (aHR (95% CI 0.849 (0.784 to 0.919), 0.904 (0.875 to 0.934), 1.186 (1.146 to 1.227) and 1.363 (1.247 to 1.489) for≥2 decrease, 1 decrease, 1 increase and≥2 increase in ULS, respectively). A decrease in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level by 10 mg/dL following eradication was associated with an increased CVD risk (aHR (95% CI 1.131 (1.091 to 1.172)), and an increase in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol by 10 mg/dL was related to a slight elevation in CVD risk (1.071 (1.058 to 1.084)).Conclusions Addressing ULS factors after H. pylori eradication may have a protective effect against posteradication CVD. Favourable changes in cholesterol levels, resulting from the direct effect of H. pylori eradication and the indirect effect of lifestyle modification, also contributed to CVD prevention.",
