"abstract": "Introduction Anterior shoulder stabilization procedures are performed to restore joint stability and aid return to function or performance, yet outcome measures used to evaluate their effectiveness remain unclear in the literature. This scoping review aims to map functional outcome measures following anterior shoulder stabilization and identify research gaps.Material and Methods Searches were conducted in PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science and Cochrane from inception to June 24, 2025. Randomized controlled trials, prospective and retrospective studies reporting postoperative functional outcomes were eligible for inclusion. Two reviewers independently screened titles, abstracts, and full text. After data extraction, artificial intelligence was used to verify accuracy and minimize human error. Results The search identified 11,245 records; 2,354 underwent full-text review, and 1,167 studies met the inclusion criteria, examining 81,415 shoulders in 80,840 patients. Among studies reporting demographic data, 83% of patients were male, 17% female, with a mean age of 27.3±5.7 years, and surgery was performed on the dominant shoulder in 61% of cases. Among the included articles, 91% reported patient reported outcome measurements (PROMs), 55% assessed range of motion, 19% included clinical tests, and 12% reported strength outcomes. Return to defined activity was reported in 35% of the studies and 12% specified time to return. Conclusion There is substantial variability in how functional outcomes are assessed following anterior shoulder stabilization. Different PROMs dominate the literature, while objective measures remain limited. Future research should prioritize objective measurements to support evidence-based clinical decision-making.",
