  "abstract": "Purpose The purpose of this study was to show how our bank has developed over the thirty years of activity. We were established in 1995, as the state budget unit, in the extent of the collection, preservation, storage and distribution of the ocular tissues to the transplant centers in PolandMethods Slit lamp and endothelial microscope enables complete morphological evaluation of the collected corneo-slceral buttons. Blood donor tests were perform in an external accredited laboratory. Blood samples were being tested for presence of the following factors in donor serum: HBsAg antigen, HBCore Total, HCV, HIV, syphilis antibodies.Results Collection, preservation, storage and distribution of the ocular tissues to the transplant centers in Poland is based on the transplantation act and related regulations that have appeared in recent years. Our eye tissue bank have very well trained staff, modernized laboratory and highly specialized equipment enabling properly collected and preserved ocular tissues to be stored in cool temperature. In our thirty years of activity we have processed 12,500 corneas. 70% of the collected corneas were available for transplantation. 30% of tissues were disqualified.Conclusions We do our best that our activity resulted in expected outcomes in the form of donors number increase and what is associated with it, decrease in waiting time for corneal transplant. The number of tissues harvested increased year after year, and what is related to this, every year we distribute more and more corneas for transplantation all over Poland.",
