  "abstract": "Objectives Epilepsy surgery is proven to be effective for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE), yet it remains underutilized. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitudes of healthcare professionals who manage epilepsy and possess the capacity to refer for epilepsy surgery.Methods Young Epilepsy Section (YES) members of the International League Against Epilepsy ( ILAE) formulated a structured survey. After a pilot study, this cross-sectional survey was carried out across Asia Oceania. It included 12 multiple choice questions, an open-ended question about what could be improved in increasing the utilisation of epilepsy surgery and educational infographic.Results Out of 1001 responses (54.9% males), there were neurologists (51.8%), neurosurgeons (8%), and General physicians (24.8%), amongst others. The highest representation was from India (204, 25%) and China (195, 24%). While 85% agreed that epilepsy surgery is necessary and effective for achieving seizure freedom, many were unaware of the specific surgical indications. >50% of Neurologists did not know the correct definition of DRE. A 12-point score was developed based on the survey questionnaire, with a higher score reflecting better knowledge about epilepsy surgery. Higher knowledge scores were seen in respondents who were epileptologists or neurosurgeon, managing a higher number of epilepsy patients per month, and working at a center with an epilepsy surgery program. Psychiatrists and general practitioners tended to have lower scores. Knowledge scores were significantly higher in Japan and Taiwan, lower in Indonesia.Conclusion The study highlights significant knowledge gaps and attitudinal barriers among healthcare professionals in the Asian-Oceanic region regarding epilepsy surgery.",
