  "abstract": "BMJ Case Reports (BMJCR) is now in its 16th year of publication. Twelve years ago, we published our first global health case report (GHCR).1 In this commentary, the BMJCR editorial team and authors of GHCRs who responded to a call to comment on their experiences of writing these GHCRs reflect together on the value of these articles. The BMJCR GHCR uses the cases of individuals from any part of the world to highlight global health problems and is distinct from global health case studies or reports published in other journals, which describe global health interventions and projects2 3 rather than the care and experiences of an individual patient. Some journals use case studies to describe global health priorities of entire countries—essentially, country case studies.4 5 Some journals use the term ‘global health cases’ to describe cases and problems considered unique to ‘low-resource’ settings.6",
