  "abstract": "Introduction Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of malignant plasma cells. The standard of care is continuous therapy. As a result, the burden and cost of care for patients is high. Interventions to reduce some of the burdens that patients face are vital to improving the patient experience, reducing financial toxicity and time burden of care. Because of these concerns, we developed a trial to evaluate the administration of daratumumab at home for patients with MM.Research design and methods We compared participant experiences between home-based treatment and infusion centre treatment of daratumumab-hyaluronidase. Participants were eligible if they were receiving daratumumab on day 1 of each cycle either as monotherapy or in combination with oral agents. Participant experience was evaluated through both quantitative surveys and semi-structured qualitative interviews. Assessment of barriers to home administration, complications with drug delivery and delays in therapy was also assessed.Results 20 participants enrolled between December 2022 and October 2023. The primary outcome of treatment satisfaction using the cancer treatment satisfaction questionnaire was not significant. However, qualitative analysis of the semistructured interviews demonstrated that participants preferred home-based treatment. They also reported saving time and money. Treatment at home was feasible, with no missed doses or major barriers identified.Conclusions Home-based therapy was well received by participants without any barriers to administration. There was a preference for treatment at home. Larger studies are needed to better understand the financial implications and optimal delivery model to incorporate home-based therapy for patients with cancer.Trial registration number NCT05511428.",
