  "abstract": "Ann was born in Lancashire in 1935. She attended Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and went on to study medicine at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School. She qualified in 1959 and completed her house jobs in Epsom Hospital. From there she moved with her husband, Dugal, to the West Indies. She was appointed medical officer at Barbados General Hospital from 1960 to 1963 and at Port of Spain General Hospital in Trinidad from 1963 to 1966.",
