  "abstract": "As life expectancy for people with type 1 diabetes improves, so does their vulnerability to age related conditions such as dementia. A large Swedish study reports that people with type 1 diabetes had double the risk of a dementia diagnosis over 14 years of follow-up compared with age, sex, and area matched controls ( Diabetes Care doi:10.2337/dc25-0773). The increase in risk was greater for vascular dementia than for Alzheimer’s disease.",
