  "abstract": "In response to the UK government introducing NHS league tables, experts have warned of the risks of oversimplification: undue focus on finances, gaming of metrics, and the unintended deterrence of staff from lower ranked organisations.1 As a general practitioner (GP) with over 30 years’ experience, I share the concerns of the Nuffield Trust, Health Foundation, and King’s Fund that these tables provide little practical insight for patients and obscure important departmental variations.",
