"abstract": "In January 2025, within 24 hours of beginning his second term as US President, Donald Trump launched an unprecedented dismantling of US climate policies. He withdrew the United States from the Paris Agreement, paused all US international aid assistance, and signed an executive order aimed at “unleashing American energy.” The order promoted the development of oil, natural gas, and coal; terminated the American Climate Corps; froze disbursement of federal funds for clean energy programmes approved by Congress; and called for elimination of the “electric vehicle mandate” as well as California’s long held authority to set stricter vehicle emissions standards.",
