  "abstract": "The WHO defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. 1 Mental health is therefore an integral and essential component of health, yet within sport, it is often only addressed reactively (eg. responding to crises or treating disorders) rather than proactively. Up to one-third of elite athletes report experiencing mental health symptoms or disorders during their careers.2 Coaches and high-performance support staff face comparable risks.3 These concerns are magnified by structural and cultural considerations within high-performance environments that can inhibit help-seeking behaviour and normalise distress.4",
