  "abstract": "An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury carries one of the highest injury burdens in sport 1 and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) involves a prolonged post-operative rehabilitation and reconditioning period lasting at least 9–12 months prior to return-to-sport clearance.2 However, despite passing return-to-sport criteria, athletes are at increased risk for subsequent ACL injury,3 and they often experience long-term neuromuscular and sport performance impairments that last for several years.4–8",
