  "abstract": "We are delighted to present the annual issue of the Norwegian Sports and Exercise Medicine Society in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. This year, we proudly embrace the slogan of the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center’s (OSTRC) 25th anniversary conference: ‘25 Years of Protecting Athlete Health: Forward Together’. With over 350 participants, the conference was a tremendous success, highlighting advancements in sports injury and illness prevention over the past quarter century and exploring how we can collaboratively move forward. As emerging researchers in sports medicine, we are honoured to stand on the shoulders of giants, OSTRC founders Professor Roald Bahr and Professor Lars Engebretsen. This issue reflects key themes from the discussions held in Svolvær.",
