  "abstract": "Air pollution poses a significant public health challenge, particularly for paediatric populations, with extensive evidence from systematic reviews linking short-term exposure to increased hospitalisations and emergency visits for respiratory diseases in children.1 Disparities in exposure are evident across the WHO European Region, with deprived and minority ethnic communities facing disproportionately higher pollution levels due to socioeconomic and environmental factors.2 Liverpool, a city with one of the UK’s highest deprivation rates, faces a complex mix of industrial, port and traffic pollution sources. This study combines novel air quality data with deprivation indices and paediatric hospital admissions to explore compounded effects on vulnerable populations and to address environmental injustices and health inequalities that disproportionately affect young residents.",
