  "abstract": "A previously healthy 17-year-old female presented to primary care with acute discolouration of the palmar surface of the third digit of the right hand. The lesion initially appeared as a yellow circular macule that progressively darkened throughout the day, becoming brown to nearly black (figure 1). The following morning, she noted additional dark macules on both palms, occurring as isolated lesions and in small clusters. The lesions were confined to the palmar surfaces and were absent elsewhere on the body.",
