  "abstract": "Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of bronchiolitis, triggering annual epidemics that peak in autumn and winter and result in approximately three million hospitalisations globally each year. Severe bronchiolitis often requires admission to a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU), which can require interhospital transfer. More than half of bronchiolitis PICU admissions in Ireland during the 2023–2024 winter season were transferred from another hospital. 1 RSV-related admissions to Children’s Health Ireland in 2023–2024 were estimated to have a financial cost of over €6 million.1",
